How do I manage my grant?

We value your partnership and want to ensure managing your grant is a seamless process. This page contains information you’ll need to manage your current grant. You can always contact your Community Impact Officer or email applications@greaterhartfordgives.org for help.

Access our Grant Portal

Organizations that receive a grant from Greater Hartford Gives (previously the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving) will manage their grants in our Grant Portal. You’ll also be assigned a dedicated Community Impact Officer who can help guide you through the entire grant process.

If you do not know how to contact your Community Impact Officer, or are unsure who is your current Officer, you can reach out to Tara Sundie, tsundie@greaterhartfordgives.org, who can help connect you!

Visit Our Grant Portal

You can also find a link to the grant portal in the top menu of the website.

What if I received a grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving?

Our name has changed, but the way we manage our grants has not. Use the Grant Portal to view or manage your open grant.

How to use our Grant Portal

Our grant portal utilizes Foundant Technology’s Grant Lifecycle Manager (GLM) software. Use the instructions and training resources below to learn how to navigate GLM and manage your grant.

Click here for instructions on how to create a GLM account, manage your dashboard, and more.

Please note that the Greater Hartford Gives custom portal will look slightly different than the portal in the tutorial video.

Completing an application in the Grant Portal

Interested in applying for a grant? Visit our Eligibility and How to Apply page to learn more about our grant application process.

Nonprofits that are invited to submit an application will be directed to the GLM Dashboard by a Greater Hartford Gives Community Impact team member. The application will be available in your Request History. Click “Edit Application” to complete your application.

No need to finish the application in one sitting—GLM gives you flexibility, allowing you to save your progress so you can return the application at a later time.

Once a grant is awarded, you can visit your Dashboard to check the status of your grant, view due dates, and submit electronic grant reports.

For the best user experience when using our Grant Portal, it is recommended to use Google Chrome 14+ (highly recommended), Firefox 9+, or Safari 4+. Internet Explorer users may encounter technical issues.

If you are unsure whether your organization already has a GLM account, please contact GrantsAdministration@greaterhartfordgives.org, with your agency name and contact information, and we will run the verification.

If you’d like to add additional users to your account, please contact your Hartford Foundation Community Impact Officer or email applications@greaterhartfordgives.org.

A user account can only be connected to one organization at a time. If you are a grantwriter for multiple organizations, please contact us to discuss your options.

For application questions that request an uploaded attachment, click the “Upload a file” button and then choose the desired document from your computer. The file name of the uploaded file will be indicated under the “Upload a file” button. Then save your application (using the button at the bottom of page).

You may only upload one document per question.

If you upload the wrong file: Once you have uploaded a file, you will see options to delete or replace with a new file.

Pay attention to your file names: Remove extra periods or replace with a dash or underscore character.

Communicating your grant award

We encourage—but do not require—Greater Hartford Gives’ grantees to communicate the news about your grant awards. If you choose, please note that any text must be reviewed in advance by our Communications Department. Please allow at least one week.

Contact our Communications Team with questions about:

Please send your proposed text to Chris Senecal, Senior Communications Officer, at csenecal@greaterhartfordgives.org.

Before finalizing language for a plaque or sign, please submit it for approval to Chris Senecal, Senior Communications Officer, at csenecal@greaterhartfordgives.org.

While the thought is appreciated, grantees should not feel the need to present plaques or similar acknowledgments to the Foundation.

f you are awarded a grant by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, and you decide to publish a story about that grant, we encourage you to post the story on social media and tag us. While we can make no guarantees, we are happy to help promote stories about our grants when possible. For questions about social media, you can contact us through our accounts, or contact Mike Keo, Senior Communications Officer, at mkeo@greaterhartfordgives.org.
