We were founded in 1925 to serve as a responsive charitable resource for the community. Ever since then, we have been growing a powerful network of changemakers—donors, nonprofits, residents, businesses, policymakers, and all people who are committed to the success and wellbeing of Greater Hartford.
Greater Hartford Gives Foundation, formerly known as the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, is the largest community foundation in Connecticut. We serve 800,000 residents across 29 towns that make up Greater Hartford. Community is at the heart of what we do. We want to make this region a more inclusive and equitable place to live, work, and start a family.
We work together with our donors, nonprofit partners, and other stakeholders to build a Greater Hartford where all residents can live in a thriving neighborhood, find employment, and improve their physical and emotional wellbeing.
We are committed to dismantling structural racism and advancing economic and social mobility throughout Greater Hartford. Our aim is to remove barriers to success and create a region where everyone can prosper.
